For those who have a black SS because of their Vid-card, there's a litlle program on 1ATR storage page named: AANoBlackSS.exe
to download, it just deletes a line in ur registery and works for several NVidia cards.

Or do it manually
open registry by pressing start in windows then "run". type this: regedit
when the new window opens up search for and delete everything that says: _armyops.exe:D3DOGL_67207556

It would be more safe to let the program do that, its the same thing

And there is the RIVA tuner to tweak ur vid card
